The English Studies Advisory Panel was set up in 1952 to promote various aspects of the English language. It met once or twice a year until 1956, when it was decided to reconstitute the Panel to form two sections, the Linguistics Panel and the Literature Panel. In 1960 the English Studies Advisory Committee was formed and continued to meet until 1965. All three committees were superseded in 1966 by the English Teaching Advisory Committee.
