Documents relating to Pershore abbey (Worcestershire).

  • [m. 1] Writ to [Walter de Wrottesley] the sheriff of Worcestershire ordering him to enter Pershore abbey and inquire how often and when the abbacy fell vacant after the death, on 17 November 1379, of Thomas de Upton, former abbot, and to certify the barons of the Exchequer of his findings. [Witness P. Ardern'. 20 June 1458];
  • [m. 2] Inquisition taken at Worcester castle on 19 September 1458 by the oath of Richard Roland, Walter Ruffyn, John Loder, Richard Danby, Robert Holwey, Thomas Edcok, William Perott, John Palys, Richard Sexton, Robert Sherard, John Smyth and Nicholas Aylewyne, returning that they do not know how often and when the abbacy fell vacant after the death, on 17 November 1379, of Thomas de Upton, former abbot of Pershore;
  • [mm. 3-4] Transcript of the court proceedings between Ralph Thorp, esquire, by Robert Hogges, his attorney, and William, abbot of Pershore, by Thomas Oseney, his attorney, in a plea concerning six messuages, four carucates and twenty acres of land and three acres of woodland in Tresham and Kilcott (Gloucestershire) which Laurence of Tresham allegedly gave to Nicholas Bordon and Denise, his wife, for life with remainders to John Bordon and his heirs and then to John Bordon and his daughter, Cecilia, and finally to Ralph Thorp, cousin and heir of John [1437-1443];
  • [m. 5] Estimates of the grain of the abbey of Pershore in the manors of Abberton, Leigh and [illegible] after Michaelmas, 4 Henry VI [1425].
