E 135/2/19
3 Hen.IV
Documents relating to the dispute between the abbey of Colchester (Essex) and the priory of Snape (Suffolk).
1. Indenture reciting the terms of a bond in which the abbot and convent of St. John, Colchester, acknowledged a debt of £2000 to Isabella de Ufford, countess of Suffolk, and Michael de la Pole, earl of Suffolk, and the ensuing legal dispute with the prior of Snape for damages on a writ;
2. Apparently a petition outlining grievances against the abbey of Colchester. Most is illegible. Mention is made of an exemption and revocation and of a failure to make up a livelihood for William Martell in Snape, Aldeburgh and Freston (Suffolk). John Wotheringsete appears to have been making vexacious suits about which protest is made.
For Snape see also E 135/15/7, E 135/15/16, E 135/19/50, E 135/19/67.
