Description

Hampshire and Surrey. 12 maps. (1) 'Woolmer'. (2-12) 11 copies of sheets from a map on multiple sheets of Aldershot and its environs: (2-3) sheet 3; (4-8) sheet 4; (9-10) sheet 5; (11-12) sheet 6. All items reproduced from sheets of the Ordnance Survey six-inch County Series; these maps engraved and transferred to zinc at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton: (1) 1883, (2-11) 1882; War Department property revised to 1 April 1888; reprinted 1894. A printed inscription on each sheet states: 'For War Department purposes only'. Coloured MS additions to all items show the boundaries of War Department property and of the following parishes: (1) Blackmoor; (2) Crondall (in part); (3) Yateley (in part); (4) Pirbright (in part); (5) Cobham; (6) Frimley (in part); (7) Woking; (8) Bisley; (9) Yateley (remainder); (10) Crondall (remainder); (11) Frimley (remainder); (12) Pirbright (remainder). MS reference notes to item (1), one on changes to the boundaries of the parish and another stating: 'This plan was prepared 15/1/1897 in ref: to an application by the Vicar of Blackmoor for a contribution towards the funds of the church schools'. The additions to items (2-11) dated 1896.
