United Provinces of the Netherlands (now the Netherlands). Map of Utrecht province and parts of Gelderland and Holland, covering the area between Amsterdam, Ede and the River Lek, showing roads, rivers and canals, named settlements, relief, mills, etc; cut from a larger sheet. The original title and any statement of scale are missing due to damage or trimming. Compass star. [?Possibly by Isaak Tirion]. Views of Wijk-bij-Duurstede, Montfoort, Utrecht, Amersfoort and Rhenan, all drawn and engraved by [Thomas] Doesburgh [or Doesborgh], are affixed to the sheet. Sheet size: 111 cm x 185 cm.
According to the British Library Catalogue and Tooley's Dictionary of Mapmakers, Doesburgh was active between 1667 and 1714; the War Office map docket book (which was the original means of reference to the War Office maps) suggests a date of about 1700 for the map.
