SP 1/63 fos 244-407v, [LP v. 5 (8)]: (lower right foliation; alphabetical designations follow those first used by Murphy, 'The Debate over Henry VIII's First Divorce: An Analysis of the Contemporary Treatises' (unpublished doctoral dissertation, University of Cambridge, 1984), pp. 81-90, and Edward Surtz and Virginia Murphy, eds, The Divorce Tracts of Henry VIII (Angers, 1988), pp. v-viii), consisting of:

Section A, folios 244-64, dated between mid-November 1527 and June 1529, probably early 1528. See Murphy, 'Debate', pp. 84-90. A draft of 'Henricus octavus' (Cambridge, Trinity MS B. 15. 19), the treatise submitted in the King's name to the 1529 legatine trial, probably on 21 June.

Section B, folios 265-303v, incomplete at end, a draft of 'Henricus octavus', the treatise submitted in the King's name to the 1529 legatine trial, probably on 21 June.

Section C, folios 304-13v, incomplete at beginning, in Gardiner's hand, probably later than sections A and B but also before June 1529, a draft of 'Henricus octavus', the treatise submitted in the King's name to 1529 legatine trial, probably on 21 June.

Section D, folios 314rv, in Gardiner's hand, related to SP 1/54, fos 166-217v above. See Murphy, 'Debate', p. 89.

Section E, folios 315-58, 'asserant leviticam', in Gardiner's hand, a later version of SP 1/54 fos 218-29v above. Also includes part of SP 1/54 fos 166-217v above, starting from fo 173v, including the three folios missing there. See Murphy, 'Debate', pp. 140-2.

Section F, folios 360-84v, contains revisions in the (unidentified) hand of its author. A complete version of section C, probably later than sections A and B but also before June 1529. A draft of 'Henricus octavus', the treatise submitted in the King's name to 1529 legatine trial, probably on 21 June. See Murphy, 'Debate', pp. 81-90.

Section G, folios 385rv.

Section H, folios 386-407v, incomplete at beginning and end, dated probably before early 1531. A copy, possibly later, of 'Non hodie', SP1/62 fos 60-139 above. Also related to sections C/F. See Murphy, 'Debate', pp. 148-9.

A further Treatise on the divorce of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, published in Letters and Papers ... of Henry VIII, vol. V, no 5(9):

SP 1/63 fos 1-65v (lower right foliation), 'sapore febricitans', imperfect at beginning and end. A reply, along with SP1/62 fos 60-139 (LP v. 5 (4)) above and SP 1/67, fos 184-280v (LP v. 461) below, to a now lost treatise by Fisher which had probably been composed between mid-1529 and early 1530. See Murphy, 'Debate', pp.142-63.
