The Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Arbitration Tribunal was established under Section 42 of the Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act 1977, to determine any question or dispute which was either required to be determined by it, or was a matter in respect of which jurisdiction was given to the tribunal under this act.
The tribunal was entirely independent of the Department of Industry. It operated under the supervision of the Council on Tribunals.
