Administrative / biographical background

The Roads Division was created in 1968 with the new Welsh Office. It worked closely with the Professional and Consultative Staff Unit who were responsible for the practical work. The latter Unit comprised Engineering Inspectors, Road Engineers, Project Planners, Quantity Surveyors, Architects, Road Safety Experts, Road Planners, Research Officers, Estate Officers and Legal Advisers.
