This series is mainly made up of gaolers' returns of debtors under the Bankruptcy Act of 1861, with the addition of a number of other miscellaneous records.
The latter include the letters patent establishing the Court of Bankruptcy in 1831, lists of attorneys and solicitors admitted to the court, and points of practice in the Court of Review. It also contains a petition dated 1828 to the Lord Chancellor by a creditor when bankruptcy cases were under the jurisdiction of the commissioners of bankruptcy.
