Consequa to Elphinstone. Has a bad leg; the Hoppo, who was pleased with the complimentary petition, has urged the merchants to secure a small [? Portuguese] vessel but they are unwilling to do so unless charges are abated. How long he will remain in office may be known when the Tartar-General arrives from Peking. Meanwhile he has been given $1600 on his birthday by Consequa. The American who owed Consequa $5,500 has now paid $4,000. Thanks for present of delicacies and will send the articles desired by Elphinstone and Roberts. 5 sheets final sheet or sheets missing at transfer. (Dated: [4m 30d]).
