Description

This series consists of an accumulation of maps and plans of civil airfields and of certain RAF airfields.

Many of the record site plans are at 1:2,500 scale and are accompanied by schedules of buildings; other detailed plans show, for example, electricity and water supply. The term "lands" describing individual pieces indicates maps showing the location of an airfield rather than detailed plans of the airfield as constructed. In many cases they show individual plots of land purchased for airfield construction or extension; some have attached a list of the original owners of such lands.
