Description

Receipts for Gratuities: Nos 1001-1143.

  • A pre-printed book of receipts. The payments covered by these relate to the termination of service of the men of the Army Works Corps.
  • In most cases these give the man's name, his number in the pay register, the amount paid and date, and the man's signature or mark. In some cases his trade and the ship on which he sailed home are also given.
  • A number of the vouchers have dockets attached relating to the refunding of income tax paid.
  • Vouchers 1144-1250 were numbered but not used.
