Captured ship: Unicorn of Southwold or London (master Thomas Nunn of Southwold).
History: an English merchant ship (23 men, 1 passenger), bound from Tangier, via Alicante, Alematt [Guardamar del Segura, near Alicante] and Malaga, to London, Hamburg or Danzig (and before hearing of the outbreak of war, also to Amsterdam, afterwards changed to Ostend), laden with Malaga wine and salt (as well as cotton being returned unsold from Tangier to England); convoyed by Royal Navy as far east as Dover but turned back for fear of the Dutch fleet, came into Portsmouth on 5/15 May 1672 under convoy of HMS Dreadnought, HMS Dragon and HMS Deptford ketch [and was there seized, after 6/16 May 1672]. Had previously taken state provisions (Sir Denis Gauden) to the British garrison at Tangier. Examinants include .
