The PPF 7800 Index is an official statistic report produced in accordance with the UK Statistics Authority Code. It provides an estimated funding position, on a Pensions Act 2004 section 179 basis, for defined benefit (DB) pension schemes potentially eligible for entry to the Pension Protection Fund (PPF). It was first featured in the PPF's annual publication The Purple Book and later started being published separately on a monthly basis. The PPF 7800 Index was first published in 2006.
