Prisoner Name: John Young Fairley, Richard Morrell, William Riddle.
Court and Date of Trial: Fairley and Riddle committed at the Durham general sessions, 21 February,1849. Morrell at Durham assizes, 27 February 1849.
Crime: Fairley and Riddle, Larceny. Morrell, felony.
Initial Sentence: Fairley - Seven years transportation, commuted to two years hard labour. Riddle - Seven years transportation. commuted to two years hard labour. Morrell- 18 months hard labour.
Outcome: Free Pardon, 30th April 1850. Petitions and letters: A covering letter from John Fawcett, Visiting Justice, enclosing certificates from George Shaw [Surgeon], and the report stating that he and the other visiting justices recommend remission of remaining sentences of each of the three named prisoners, on grounds of their delicate health, and their improved moral character.
