Description

Folios 138-139: John Tower, HMS Curacao, Milford Haven. Covering letter for enclosed copies of several dispatches from His Majesty's Governors at the Isle's of France and Bourbon as well as a letter from Captain Schomberg Senior Naval Officer on that Station all of which the Earl of Caledon received on the 23 July 1811 at St. Helena by the [La] Bonne Citoyenne.

Folios 140-141: enclosure with folios 138-139. John Tower, HMS Curacao. Copy of letter to The Right Honourable The Earl Of Caledon, Governor of the Cape of Good Hope. Intelligence report on French Frigates.

Folios 142-143: enclosure with folios 138-139. John Tower, HMS Curacao. Copy of letter to His Excellency R T Farguhar, Governor of Bourbon. Thanking him for the information and reporting his Head Quarters.

Folios 144-145: enclosure with folios 138-139. Charles Marsh Schomberg, HMS Astraea, off Round Island. Dated 15 May 1811. Reports that in consequence of information received that the Enemies Frigates were very short of water, and HMS Galatea having joined company, he will proceed to Tamatare? for information with the ships under his orders. HMS Egremont will be left off Round Island with a Petty officer and 12 Seaman on board.

Folios 146-147: enclosure with folios 138-139. Copy of letter from R T Farguhar to His Excellency Major General Warde, Governor of Mauritius. Dated 13 May 1811. Acknowledging the letter from His Excellency dated 8 May 1811 together with the letter of the Civil Commissary reporting the appearance of three French Frigates off Mauritius. This has been transmitted to Lieutenant Colonel Keating Commanding the forces on the Island

Folios 148-149: enclosure with folios 138-139. Copy of letter from R T Farguhar, St Denis, Bourbon. Dated 21 May 1811. To His Excellency Major General Warde, Governor of Mauritius. Reports that since the sighting of the 13 May 1811 the enemy has not been seen from the Islands

Folios 150-151: enclosure with folios 138-139. Letter from Major General Henry Warde, dated 27 May 1811. To The Right Honourable The Earl Of Caledon, Governor of the Cape of Good Hope, covering letter for letter received from His Excellency the Governor of Bourbon.
