Covering letter for enclosed copies of several dispatches from His Majesty's Governors at the Isle's of France and Bourbon as well as a letter from Captain Schomberg Senior Naval Officer on that Station all of which the Earl of Caledon received on the 23 July 1811 at St. Helena by the [La] Bonne Citoyenne.

Folios 144-145: enclosure with folios 138-139. Charles Marsh Schomberg, HMS Astraea, off Round Island. Dated 15 May 1811. Reports that in consequence of information received that the Enemies Frigates were very short of water, and HMS Galatea having joined company, he will proceed to Tamatare? for information with the ships under his orders. HMS Egremont will be left off Round Island with a Petty officer and 12 Seaman on board.

Acknowledging the letter from His Excellency dated 8 May 1811 together with the letter of the Civil Commissary reporting the appearance of three French Frigates off Mauritius. This has been transmitted to Lieutenant Colonel Keating Commanding the forces on the Island
