Description

Folios 93-94: James Townshend, HMS Aeolus, Halifax Harbour. Covering letter for a report from Captain Arthur Batt Bingham of HMS Little Belt to Rear Admiral Herbert Sawyer about a severe action between his vessel and an American Frigate President on the 16 May 1811.

Folios 95-96: enclosure with folios 93-94. Letter dated 21 May 1811 by Arthur Batt Bingham, HMS Little Belt, at Sea. [3 page report] on an action between HMS Little Belt and the American Frigate President on the 16 May 1811. States that 32 men were killed or wounded inc the Master. Also mentions Lieutenant John Moberly? who did great work in stopping the leaks.

Folios 97-100: enclosure with folios 93-94. James Townshend, HMS Aeolus, Halifax. Charles John Austin, HMS Cleopatra, Halifax and Alexander Gordon, HMS Rattler, Halifax. [First 8 sides] Report on the action between HMS Little Belt and the American Frigate President on the 16 May 1811.
