Folios 47-48: George Tobin, HMS Princess Charlotte, Torbay. Having seen in the Courier of the 27 February 1811 the copy of a letter from Captain Arden Adderley to Vice Admiral Campbell dated 23 February 1811 stating the capture of the La Confiance , Privateer by HMS Echo under his command. He refers to his letter of the 22 to Sir Robert Calder. Although HMS Echo is credited with taking the La Confiance , it is due to Captain Bentick Cavendish Doyle of HMS Lightning and her exertions which made it possible. His boat was picked up by HMS Helicon the same night with the loss of two crew and several prisoners.

Copy of letter to Sir Robert Calder (1st Baronet of Southwick) Reporting the capture of La Confiance , Privateer by HMS Echo with great assistance form Captain Bentick Cavendish Doyle of HMS Lightning and her Gunner.
