Captured ship: Anthony of Penzance (master William Garland; English prize master when retaken from Dutch, Thomas Dore).
Capture history: an English merchant ship (barque, 15-16 tons, owner Anthony Gubbs of Penzance), bound from Penzance to an unstated port, laden with tin, beeswax, cod and herrings; taken about 11 am on 24 February/6 March 1672/3 about 12 leagues west of Cape Frail [Frehel] near St Malo by a Dutch privateer (Flaming commanding), retaken on 25 February/7 March 1672/3 about 5 leagues off St Albans Head (Dorset) by HMS Rupert (Sir John Holmes commanding) and brought into Portsmouth.
