Description

Folios 283-284: James Slade, HMS Experiment, Falmouth. Regarding John Pearce and William Owl currently in prison and acknowledging receipt of a letter from Mr Tremayne as well as a petition from John Pearce.

Folios 285 and 290: enclosure with folios 283-284. James Slade, HMS Experiment, Falmouth, 7 June 1813, to the Admiralty. Reporting on the case of Local Militiamen, John Pearce and William Owl, who following the impressment of members of the Pendennis Regiment of the Local Militia, assaulted 2 members of the impress service. Lieutenant Colonel Burgess, Ward of the impress service and the Mayor of Falmouth also mentioned.

Folios 286 and 289: enclosure with folios 283-284: [J Harold?] Tremayne, Falmouth, 23 July 1813, to the Admiralty. Requesting that the accompanying petition be considered by the Admiralty.

Folios 287-288: enclosure with folios 283-284: John Pearce, Bodmin Prison, 17 July 1813, to the Admiralty. Petition requesting help with his discharge from prison, stating his version of events, his previous assistance with HMS Agamemnon and HMS Captain in distress off Falmouth and assistance in the community. A note from Edmund Gilbert, Visiting Magistrate, stating his good conduct whilst in prison.
