Description

Prisoner name: James Carney, aged 13.

Court and Date of Trial: York quarter Sessions, 1846.

Crime: Larceny.

Initial sentence: Transportation 7 years.

Gaoler's Report: Convicted and in prison before.

Petitions and letters: Report from William Crawford, Whitworth Russell and John Perry, recommending removing the prisoner to Parkhurst Prison, the Probationary Ward.

Letter from the Office of the Clerk of the Peace affirming the prisoner is to be moved to Parkhurst.

Petition from Patric Carney, father of the prisoner, 1848, asking for mitigation and says he can provide employment for his son. His son has been at Parkhurst for 3 years and is about to be sent to Australia.
