Court and Date of Trial: Central Criminal Court, 1845.
Crime: Forgery.
Initial sentence: Imprisonment 2 years.
Outcome: Free pardon, December 1845.
Petitions and letters: Charles Wright, Clerk of the Visiting Magistrates, sends a certificate from Henry Wakefield, Surgeon, December 1845, stating the prisoner is suffering from pulmonary disease and that his life is in danger if he stays in prison. Enclosed, too, is a petition from the prisoner, who says he was in good health when he entered the prison but, in November, his cough developed to a point where he needed to be admitted to the Infirmary.
Letter from the Inspector of Prisons, John Perry, stating the prisoner is suffering from pulmonary consumption and there is no prospect of recovery.
