Folios 289-290: James Keith Shepard, Regulating Officer, Gravesend. Encloses a letter from the Commander of HMS Streatham who has not been able to deliver it to Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Williams. Has directed the man in question to be received on board HMS Corso.
Folios 291-292: enclosure with folios 290-291. Letter dated 22 July 1812 by John Dale, Commander, HMS Streatham, to Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Williams, Sheerness. Reports that by order of the Governor and Council of Saint Helena, he has brought to England, James Douglas, who has been found guilty of repeated acts of mutiny on HMS Streatham during their passage from India and asks for permission for Douglas to be detained at Sheerness until he has received further orders from the Court of Directions as to whether Douglas is to be classed as a deserter from the Artillery in Bengal or he is to be brought to trial and court martialed by a Naval Court. Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Foley at the Downs also mentioned.
