Folios 56-57: James Slade, HMS Experiment, Falmouth. Responds to an Admiralty request of 30 May to give a detailed report on the allegations contained in the enclosed letters from Mr Goulburn and Lieutenant-Colonel Burgess, Commander of the Pendennis Artillery Corps about the impressment of William Downing and Francis Bolitha, both of said Corps. Gives a detailed account of his understanding that seafaring men enrolled in the Pendennis Corps are not Protected and refutes the allegations made by Lieutenant-Colonel Burgess about communication and whether he and Lieutenant Robert Carter have carried out their duties properly. Asks the Admiralty for an endorsement of their actions.
