Folios 178-179: James Masters, HMS Meteor, Galleons [Reach]. Sails for Nore tomorrow, all stores onboard. An American the John Morgan of New York, Master not on, Rowland Craigei, Pilot ran foul of him knocking off his Jib Boom. Repairing Sheerness. Reports a Frenchman onboard with a certificate says ship is laden with gunpowder. A Customs House officer hasn’t cleared the cargo which is sanctioned by the Government. Seeks instructions about three men he impressed from her, a slave, the others with Protections from Mr Hawker the US Consul in Plymouth.
