Folios 468-469: Graham Moore, HMS Melampus, Plymouth Sound. Reporting his arrival, having upsprung the main mast in such a way that it was impossible to secure by fishes. They secured it by reefing the top mast, but the gales of wind have caused leaky upper works. The need to stay in this port has delayed the return to Cork. A copy of the Carpenter's Defects is enclosed.
Folios 470-471: enclosure with folios 468-469. Letter dated 20 November 1799 by Graham Moore to Admiral Kingsmill. He cruised for 6 or 7 weeks [position stated] following an order from Captain Barlow of HMS Phoebe. They encountered French and Spanish ships. The French chased them all day. Winds then caused damage and the decision was made to stop in Plymouth for repairs. The poor weather will have discouraged the enemy privateers.
