Description

Folios 223-229: Correspondence regarding the trial of Koyaki Coal (Japan), reporting on the output, with brief overview (folio 223).

Encloses letter (folios 224-227): A J Hook, Lieutenant and Commander, HMS Flying Fish at Nagasaki dated 29 December 1882 to Vice Admiral Geo [George] O Willes CB, Commander-in-Chief, China, reporting that a small quantity of Koyaki Coal has been taken onto the ship and attaches a letter from the chief engineer (folios 226-227) on the trial of this coal.

Encloses letter (folios 228-229): [?], Agent for Jardine Matheson & Co, Nagasaki dated 9 March 1883 to Captain S Long R A, Senior Naval Officer, HBM Curaçoa, Yokohama, regarding the output of the coal mine.
