Folios 264-265: George Montagu, HMS Hector, Spithead. Asks for an order for Joseph Richards, Boatswain, to be superannuated due to ill health following an accident. Advises the date of his first warrant is 5 February 1779 as Boatswain of HMS Pomona, signed by Lords Sandwich, Lisburne and Penton. Encloses a Surgeon's certificate.
Folio 266: enclosed with folios 264-265. Certificate dated 12 April 1794 by John Smith, Surgeon and Captain George Montagu, HMS Hector, Spithead to the Admiralty. Certifies that Joseph Richards, Boatswain, HMS Hector is confined to bed from an injury to his back and loins and is unfit for duty and unable to perform any journey.
