Prisoner name: John Heath, aged 28 years.

Court and Date of Trial: Old Bailey, 26 October 1847.

Crime: Larceny or felony, by theft of a watch from a market stall.

Initial sentence: Seven years transportation.

Gaoler's Report: 'Convicted before'.

Outcome: 'Nil'.

Petitions and letters: Petition from John Heath (the prisoner) on the grounds that the charge was fabricated by the arresting officer who knew him, the evidence was insufficient, his previous good character, his good conduct on board York.
