Description

Folio: 447v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter I. Grant.

First party: Walter, son of Alan son of Brian de Welleton [Welton].

Second party: Henry, son of Adam de Witchale [Withcall], chaplain.

Place or subject: The whole of that part of the toft which William son of Geoffrey gave to Walter and quitclaimed for himself and his heirs, namely four perches in width from his toft towards the east and in length from the great way which lies through the middle of the vill of Welleton [Welton] as far as the headland which was of Osbert son of Arnold, and also two selions lying opposite to Littelhougate between the land of Conan son of Geoffrey and the land of Robert, son of Gilbert de Halinton [Allington], and five selions at Standard lying between the lands of the church, and three selions lying on the west side of Norrendale between the land of Conan and the land of Osbert Syrreue, with appurtenances. To hold in free, pure and perpetual alms, in such a way that Henry, his heirs and assigns will maintain one lamp burning in the church of St Andrew of Welleton [Welton] before the altar of St Mary and one lamp at the altar of St Thomas the Martyr, during all feast days at morning prayers, mass and vespers, for the salvation of Walter's soul and the souls of his ancestors, for all service, exaction and custom.
