Description

Folios: 366-366v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Agreement.

First party: Master John Galle of Salfletby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Maud, late wife of Ranulf Russell of the same.

Place or subject: John granted and demised to Maud during her whole life three perches of meadow and two embankments of pasture with appurtenances lying in the meadows and vill of Salfletby [Saltfleetby], three perches of which lie in the south meadows of the same vill between the meadow which was of Robert de Lindeshay [Lindsey] on the west side and the meadow which was of Ranulf Russell on the east side, and they abut towards the south upon the meadow which was of Ranulf and William Gled and towards the north upon the croft of Master John, and one embankment lies between the land of Master John on the west side and the land of John Drury on the east side, and the other embankment lies between the land of the same Master John on the east side and the land of John Gamell on the west side, and the sides abut towards the south upon the royal way and towards the north upon Neudicgate. To hold to Maud during her whole life freely, quietly, well and in peace and without any reservation. John and his heirs will warrant that whole meadow and embankments of pasture with appurtenances and with free entry and exit to Maud, until William, son of Joh, son of Osbert and his heirs warrant to John and his heirs and assigns one acre of meadow and three perches of pasture and nineteen 'falls', which William gave to John according to the tenor of a certain charter completed between John and William concerning the lands which were of Ranulf Russell. After Maud's death that whole meadow and embankments will return to John and his heirs without any impediment from her heirs.
