Description

Folios: 315v-316. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: John the clerk, son of Walter de Stifton [Stewton].

Second party: Philip, son of Odo Galle.

Place or subject: Three acres of arable land in the territory of Stifton [Stewton] in the west field, namely the whole land which John had lying in Westglufthorp between the ditch of the wood on the north side and the land of the lord on the south side, and it abuts towards the west upon the way which leads to Ludam [Louth], with free entry and exit and all appurtenances, together with the whole common and all appurtenances within the vill and outside pertaining to two bovates of land which John at one time held in the vill and territories of Stifton [Stewton]. For two marks which Philip gave to John in advance. To hold to Philip and his heirs and assigns of John and his heirs freely, peacefully and in inheritance, quit from all services, customs and demands.
