Description

Folio: 203v. Somerset. Grant.

First party: Fulk Painell [Paynel].

Second party: William Briwerr' [Brewer].

Place or subject: The manor of Brichewauteri [Bridgwater] entirely with the appurtenances, and the service of Stodleg' and Holecumba [Holcombe] with appurtenances, as freely and entirely as Alfred de Banton held them at any time. For his homage and service. To hold to William and his heirs of Fulk and his heirs in fee and inheritance forever by the free service of half a knight for all service, well and in peace, freely and quietly, entirely and honourably in wood, plain, ways, paths, meadows, pastures, waters, watercourses, fisheries, fishponds, mills and the site of mills, churches and advowsons of churches, homages, reliefs, services and in all things and places with all liberties and free customs pertaining to those tenements, quit from all pleas and complaints and from all secular exactions. For this grant William gave Fulk 100 marks, and William handed over the whole land of Uffecolom [Uffculme] to him.
