Description

Folios: 201-201v. Somerset. Grant.

First party: King John.

Second party: William Briewerr' [Brewer].

Place or subject: The manor of Pentigenand with the gift of the church of Lamwenep and with all other its appurtenances, which he has from the gift of Godfrey, bishop of Winchester [Godfrey de Lucy]. Also the manor of Blisewurth [Blisworth] with appurtenances and the advowson of the church of the same manor, which he has from the gift of William de Ferrers, earl of Derby. Also the whole manor of Breggewauter [Bridgwater] with appurtenances, and the service of Stodlegg' and the service of Holecumbe [Holcombe], which he has from the gift of Fulk Paynell of Baunton. Also the whole of the lands which William de Raleg' [Raleigh] gave to him, namely the lands which were of Walter de Raleg' in Radeworthy [Radworthy], Bikeworthe, la Fenne and Bredewye with their appurtenances, and, in addition, the whole of the land which William de Raleg had in Neweton and Wetestan. To hold well and in peace, freely and quietly, entirely, fully and honourably in wood, plain, ways, paths, meadows, pastures, waters, mills, fishponds, pools, homages, reliefs and in all other places and things with liberties and free customs pertaining to those manors and lands, just as the charters of gifts reasonably testify.
