Folios 288-294. Copy of a letter from Meyercron [Henning Meyer de Meyercron, Danish ambassador to France?] to the King of Denmark, reporting on discussions with Pomponne [Simon Arnauld, Marquis de Pomponne] and de Torcy [Colbert, Jean-Baptiste, Marquis de Torcy, French foreign minister] regarding France's insistence on the mediation of the King of Sweden, in which context they could not find it bad that the King of Denmark seek to be compensated a little for what his engagements with France had caused him to lose elsewhere, especially as on the verge of peace France had communicated nothing to the Danish King and not wished to enter into the expedients that had been proposed to it to advance that peace. Pomponne said that there was something in his comments about the status of peace discussions, but that not all of it was well founded; on the mediation of the King of Sweden, he said France was not insisting on it and not in preference to that of the King of Denmark, but that it was the Emperor who had put Sweden forward - this was in any event to no end due to the conditions attached by the Emperor; negotiations had taken place in Holland without mediation, and the Emperor now seeing matters so advanced no wished again to send negotiations to Stockholm for the Swedish King's mediation. Pomponne [Simon Arnauld, Marquis de Pomponne] added that he could see unfounded things were being said to cast France in a bad light, but that he could assure Meyercron of the sincerity of the French King's intentions for the Danish King and his interests. Regarding the restitution of Lorraine and the 10 towns in Alsace being demanded by the Emperor, Pomponne seemed quite distant and remarked that he could see the Emperor was trying to draw matters out. Refers to interruptions in raising funds for the war due to hopes a peace could be achieved soon, but that following the difficulties raised by the Emperor, it appears that fundraising has been resumed.
