Folios 265-267. Copy of a letter from the King of France to d'Avaux [Jean-Antoine de Mesmes, called d'Avaux (1640-1709)?]. Refers to changes in the relations between Count d'Oxenstein [Count Bengt Gabrielsson Oxenstierna, Swedish Foreign Minister?] and the King of Sweden and the good intentions of the Prince; considers instructing those in the Prince's Council that have been well intentioned to date, in all which relates to the conditions for a general peace should such a discussion be needed in Stockholm. Remarks on the desire of the Allies to make peace, having refused the conditions they desired rather than accepting the mediation of Sweden, and the differences in the French King and the Allies' treatment of the King of Sweden (the latter only accepting to involve him in the peace once they believe they are no longer able to sustain the war). The reports Count Oxenstein says he has received from Poland are not entirely divorced from the truth, as the Polish aversion to the Queen and her children appears great.
