Folios 246-249. Copy of a letter from Meyercron [Henning Meyer de Meyercron, Danish ambassador to France] to the King of Denmark, reporting that he had insisted again on the release of the 'Bource de Coppenhague' and the payment of subsidies but was resisted on all points, the French spirit still being wounded by the treaty concluded by the King of Denmark in Holland and awaiting an explanation via Bonrepos [Bonrepaus; François d'Usson de (1650-1719); French diplomat]. Meyercron referred to the Danish King's declaration that the Treaty contained only what had already been told to them, and that rumours that they would breach their neutrality and take measures against France were false and spread by those who wanted to create a rift between the two kings. He argued that it would be hard to delay payment of subsidies any longer under this pretext, but Monsieur de Pomponne had responded that these assurances were just general, whereas they were hearing that they would no longer have access to Danish Ports. De Pomponne's view was that the delay in payment was of no consequence since the will to pay it was there once the clarifications sought had been received - Bonrepos [Bonrepaus; François d'Usson de (1650-1719); French diplomat] was on his way to Copenhagen and should arrive soon. Refers to: reports that the capitation in England will be onerous and difficult both to establish and to raise the necessary sums; the disposition of an unspecified Prince to peace; the difficulties raised by the Imperial Court being seen as signs of their desire to prevent progress of peace negotiations - it is said to be extraordinary to deal with the restitution of Lorraine as a preliminary matter.
