Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) are business-led partnerships between local authorities and local private sector businesses. They were first championed by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), and later by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communites (DLUHC) and the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). Government funding for LEPs ceased in April 2024 following decisions on local devolution, putting local leadership in charge of determining local economic strategies.
The LEPs Network serves as a hub for LEPs across the country to share knowledge and good practice and to engage with the Government together.
