Folios 157-164. Scheme for repairs to the fortifications at Portsmouth, drawn up by Major General Du Cambon. Advising that it can become one of the best in Europe at modest expense and noting that the King has asked for the work to be done simply with a focus on the most pressing and necessary items. Du Cambon outlines the condition of the baracks, which is poor and dangerous to the health of the soldiers, but which can be repaired at a cost of 800l. Other necessary repairs to various parts of the fortification are set out, the cost of which brings the total sum required to 4,500l. Note following the signature: Du Cambon has spoken to the King for Nolibois, who was employed in Holland as an engineer; and the King has commanded him [Du Cambon] to tell the Duke of Schomberg that it is his intention to employ Nolibois.
