Captured ship: Castle of Stockholm, otherwise Stockholm Castle, Stokholms Slot, or Chateau de Stockholm of Kalmar (master Johannes Kool of Kalmar otherwise Jean Cool, John Kohle)
Capture history: a Swedish merchant ship (200-300 tons, built at Kalmar), bound from Bordeaux, the River of Seudres near La Rochelle, and St Martin de Ré to Stettin, laden with salt, wine, brandy, hats and fox skins; taken on 12/22 May 1672 about 7-15 leagues off Plymouth by HMS Newcastle (Anthony Langstone commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
One of the owners, Peter Cambou, was a passenger aboard: the owners of the ship were David Hyoke (otherwise Heijock), Peter Gerretsen van de Lane (otherwise Peter Giertsen), both citizens of Kalmar; and David Lyell and his brother Adam Lyell, Peter Harkur (otherwise Hockart), Jacob de Young, Adam Raden, David Stronge, Gillies Spensier (otherwise Giles Puitzier), Rolliffe Cornelisson, all of Stockholm; and John Steines (otherwise Jean Stenison) of Stockholm county, and Joos de Best (otherwise Joris de Besche) and Peter Cambou (otherwise Cambo), both of Boslagen (or Lustabrooke) in Sweden, and the master.
