The Research and Development Committee's aim was to expand the work of the British Potato Council in the research and development field: to develop the research and development strategy following industry wide consultation,to commission research projects in line with industry requirements and within agreed budgets,to encourage and monitor the uptake of research results.
Its membership includes five Council members, including the Chairman (as an ex officio member), one non-Council member nominated by the Seed Sector Group, and six members nominated by industry. Scientific representatives from Defra and the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department (SEERAD) are invited members of the Committee.
