Description

Bottom envelope attached to front of item 62, unmarked, containing 3 photographs, 2 postcards and 2 cuttings:

Photographs, monochrome, with typed notes on reverse:

1) 11cm x 15cm, 'Liskeard and Caradon Railway, view showing Moorswater Viaduct and the old piers of the original Brunel timber structure, seen from the main Liskeard to Truro road, and showing the field path and lane leading down to the old Caradon station at Moorswater part of the station roof, platform railings and a signal post are visible to the left of the knoll, in the right foreground [photograph] H Volk, c 1886 [to] 1900'.

2) 10cm x 15cm, 'Moorswater Viaduct' [taken from opposite side to sub-item 1, showing old piers in front of new viaduct, mixed train crossing], [c 1900].

3) 9cm x 14cm, typed title on front 'Liskeard and Looe Railway, part of the Moorswater sidings view', [c 1920].

A 'down' freight worked by a Manor class 4-6-0 crosses this viaduct near and just past Liskeard station; the line below is all that is left of the Liskeard and Cardon branch and leads up to the Moorswater locomotive sheds, [photograph] R E Vincent, 2 October 1954, ex Ian Allan 'Trains Album No 7''.
