Captured ship: San Francisco or St Francis (master unknown).
History: a Spanish merchant ship bound from San Sebastian to Portsmouth, laden with wine; taken on 10/20 1696 June off Purbeck by the privateer Sea Adventure (Peter Jolliffe commanding) and brought first into Poole, and then into Portsmouth. The Sea Adventure had a number of fisherman aboard, who had joined the ship when they spied a French privateer travelling with the San Francisco for safety, which they then chased but the privateer was able to escape.
