Description

Captured ship: François or Francis of Dieppe (master François L'Hermite).

History: a French merchant ship (barque, 40 tons) bound from St Malo to Rouen, laden with honey, wine, cheese, tallow and oil; taken on 28 October / 7 November 1692 at 'Domonville' [Armanville ?] off the coast of Normandy by the privateer Swallow (John Tupper commanding) and brought into Guernsey.

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: two examinations;
  • [CP 3]: a warrant as to the irregularities of the Swallow's letter of marque;
  • [CP 4-CP 6]: indenture, inventory, commission of appraisement;
  • [CP 7]: docket, still attached to the ship's papers.

Ships Papers numbered SP 1-SP 14, bills of lading.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 15 December 1692].
