Folios 85-87. Account of [William] Cowdry and his mate's [James Shanks] meeting with Lawrence at his house in Colchester Street [London] when he gave Cowdry a letter to take to Mr Searle 'the letter being sealed with a wafer and wet' Cowdry was able to open and copy it. The letter concluded 'You will please to tell them what they are to expect and what encouragement they are like to meet with'. The account also relates Cowdry and [Shanks's] meeting with Searle and another meeting with Lawrence. Alderman Lee is mentioned. Folio 87. '17 August 1775 further particulars of the conversation between Mr Searle Capt[ain] Lawrence and the persons who have received instructions for that purpose in the business of the shipwrights'. In pencil the date is 16 August 1775.
