Folios 9-16: Covering letter and report of operations (paper No 1577/120.E) Vice Admiral Cecil Fiennes Thursby on HMS Lord Nelson with reports of Detached Squadrons as follows: First Detached Squadron (Crete and the Anatolian Coast between Samos and Rhodes), Second Detached Squadron (Dardanelles area), Third Detached Squadron (Salonika area), Fourth Detached Squadron (Smyrna, Khios and Samos area), Fifth Detached Squadron (Doro-Salonika transport route), Sixth Detached Squadron (Bulgarian coast). Mention of Captain Arnold Foster (HMS Latona) assisted by Lieutenant Commander John Linton Myres and Lieutenant C.M. Charnaud; Captain Francis Clifton Brown (HMS Edgar); Commander Wellwood George Courtenay Maxwell (HMS Wear), Lieutenant Commander Henry de Beauvoir Tupper (HMS Scourge) and Lieutenant Commander HH Piercy (HM Monitor M22) taking part in raid on Dorian Peninsula on 16-18 August 1916, (folio 10).

Folios 37-39: Enclosure Number 3. Report dated 21 August 1916 by Rear Admiral and Senior Officer Arthur Hayes-Sadler, HMS Exmouth, Second Detached Squadron, Salonica.

Folios 40-44: Enclosure Number 4. Report of proceedings of the Fourth Detached Squadron for 13 to 19 August 1916 by Captain and Senior Naval Officer Frank Larken, HMS Doris at Port Iero, 4th Detached Squadron. Mention of incidences of plague in Mitylene (folio 41).

Folios 45-50: Enclosure Number 5. Report of proceedings of the Fifth Detached Squadron for 13 to 19 August 1916 by Archibald Cochrane, HMS Skirmisher, Senior Officer 5th Detached Squadron. Includes a report dated 22 August 1916 by Lieutenant Commander Edmond Alan Berners Stanley, HMS Staunch, concerning a track of oil possibly from an enemy submarine (folios 48-49), and an extract of a report by Commander Turle of Trawler 341 dated 23 August 1916 concerning the oil leak (folio 50).

Folios 51-54: Enclosure Number 6. Report of proceedings of the Sixth Detached Squadron for 13 to 19 August 1916 by Captain Edgar Grace, HMS Grafton, Senior Officer 6th Detached Squadron.

Folios 55-57: Enclosure Number 7. Weekly summary of operations of the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla for 14 to 19 August 1916 by Charles Penrose Rushton Coode, HMS Blenheim. Captain (D) Fifth Destroyer Flotilla.

Folios 58-72: Enclosure Number 8. Naval Air Service including intelligence summaries for Dardanelles, Bulgaria and Smyrna areas and weekly operations report. Mention of Flight Commander T. A. Rainey, Lieutenant W. Park, Flight Sub-Lieutenant F.E.P. Barrington and Sub Lieutenant W.C. Jameson and Flight Sub-Lieutenant S.M. Kinkead, the last attacked by “a perfectly new Fokker with Iron Crosses on its wings”. Also mention of patrols by Flight Sub-Lieutenants Clifford and Cross, Squadron Commander R. Smyth-Pigott DSO, Flight Lieutenants C.E. Brisley, A.F.F. Jacob, E.P. Hardman and Flight Sub-Lieutenant A.M. Waistall and a report on disposition and state of aircraft.
