Folio 87. Letter from Lord Barrington to Lord Rochford. 'To quiet the minds of your friends who do not dare to meet you at Ingatestone till more troops arrive, I have contrived to order half a troop more to Chelmsford, 'tho one quarter of a troop is more than enough to make a thousand Essex rioters run away. I have now done everything possible for the assistance of the civil magistrates, and am not under the least apprehension for my mill at Little Baddow, if the Justices will do their part. If they will not, the whole army would not be of any efficacy'. He says that there will be one troop of dragoons at Sudbury [Suffolk] and the same at Colchester,Ipswich and Chelmsford. He mentions Colchester twice.
