Hans Werner EGLI-ROE: Swiss. EGLI-ROE was a journalist who worked for the Neue Zuricher Zeitung in London, including throughout the Second World War, as an accredited foreign correspondent. He was suspected of communist sympathies shortly after moving to London in 1931 and later there were allegations that he held pro-German sympathies. He was an associate of Luis CALVO-ANDALUZ, a Spanish journalist who was part of a Spanish espionage ring operating in the UK supporting German interests. However, no allegations were substantiated and it was concluded that he was supportive of the UK and its war effort. With photographs
