Description

Captured ship: Arms of Danzig or Wapen Van Danzig (master Ulcke Gerrits).

History: a Danzig merchant ship (250 tons), bound from Nantes to Danzig, laden with salt, wine and brandy; seized on 4/14 February 1696/97 at anchor in the Downs by the fireship Breda (George Mees commanding).

  • [CP 3-CP 4]: two attestations from Danzig;
  • [CP 5-CP 6]: commission of appraisement, inventory;
  • [CP 7-CP 16]: commission to conduct further examinations at Danzig, affidavit, two sets of interrogatories, four examinations with transcribed accounts and exhibits, an attestation relating to a 1689 capture of the Wapen Van Danzig, bills of lading, envelope.
