Description

Captured ship: Animas or the Souls of Bilbao (master Manuel Delmuente).

History: a Spanish merchant ship (ketch, 20 tons), bound from Cork, Ireland to Bilbao, laden with beef, 140 yards of frieze and Irish woollen stockings; taken on 5/15 June 1697, 60 leagues south of the Lizard by HMS Plymouth (John Jennings commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
